Our eyes perceive about 15 million colour shades. However, for daily work with colours, this number is impractical and inefficient, and we need to reduce this complexity. In his presentation, Markus will show how fixed colour standards help companies, agencies, etc. to make working with colours faster, more efficient, and more sustainable.

 

Tom Smith – Gaining efficiency through automation

Tom’s presentation highlights how automation can be used throughout R&D/manufacturing to assist in the generation and analysis of good quality data. The presentation includes a case study on automating the experimental workflows for colour matching.

Global Head of RAL COLOURS

Markus holds a university degree in Business Administration. He has contributed his in-depth knowledge and expertise to the colour world and to professionals who use colour in the areas of industry, trades, architecture, and design for more than 20 years. Since 2013, Markus has been working for RAL COLOURS. In October 2018, Markus became a member of the board of trustees of the German Colour Association. Additionally, he is regularly invited to lecture workshops and speeches at various universities in Germany, China and the United States of America.

Rik Mertens
Application Manager at Datacolor

For over 30 years, Rik has been an integral part of Datacolor. As our Subject Matter Expert for the paint and coatings industry and the applications specialist for all Datacolor software, he knows the ins and outs of managing colour throughout the supply chain. Rik is working with global key accounts in the Paint and Coatings industry to define and implement colour management solutions tailored to their needs. He also works closely with product managers and R&D to update and improve Datacolor software.

Tom Smith
Senior Project Leader at Labman

Tom joined Labman Automation after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a master’s in mechanical engineering and has been with the company for over 10 years. Since the start, he has specialised in providing automation for research and development labs within the paints and coatings industry. Tom is now also responsible for the design, build and validation of GAMP 5 automated systems for the pharmaceutical industry.

Goran has over 13 years of experience in the paint business within the field of tinting equipment design. He led the development of the Habil Next Gen range, setting a new standard in the tinting industry: ZeroPurge!

Gijs has started his career at the University of Amsterdam, managing several software implementations. He joined Fast and Fluid Management 4 years ago as product manager. He’s now leading the development of advanced digital apps to enhance FFM’s connected tinting equipment.
