Mark is a visual artist, commercial photographer, and director based in London, with over 30 years of experience crafting striking, imaginative, and impactful imagery. His work is regularly commissioned by leading brands and top-tier advertising agencies.
His journey behind the lens began in childhood, when photography first sparked his creative curiosity. 

Mark is particularly known for his expertise in capturing liquids, beverages, still life, special effects, and underwater scenes. He is the originator of the widely recognized and highly sought-after “Aqueous” series, a groundbreaking body of work that helped pioneer a trend in fluid photography. His mastery of high-speed techniques allows him to freeze dynamic moments—like splashes and pours—that are typically invisible to the naked eye.
In addition to his stills, Mark also directs television commercials, approaching motion work with the same creative energy and precision that defines his photography.

What type of photography do you do?

I am an advertising photographer and I mainly shoot anything to do with liquids, from drinks, fragrances, splashes and pours.

How did you get into photography, and more specifically, that genre of photography?

Photography was a hobby as a teenager and then it was a natural progression to do it as a career. I have evolved through different genres of photography, from working as a photojournalist covering news and sports through to fashion. I had an idea of shooting colourful liquids as a fun personal project which I called ‘Aqueous’. It became very popular and became something I specialised in.

I’ve been fortunate to win quite a few awards and gain recognition for my work. These include:

How long have you been doing photography?

I’ve been working as a photographer for over 30 years.

What/who are your influences?

I love vintage photography and although my work is a completely different genre, I am influenced by the work of Elliott Erwitt, Saul Leiter, Robert Doisneau, Henri Cartier- Bresson and many others. I’m also influenced by some of the great cinematographers.

Why is colour management important to you?

My work is usually fairly colourful and being an advertising photographer, I’m often photographing a product so getting the colours right is an essential part of my work.

What’s your favourite photo you’ve taken and how did colour management play a part?

I have many favourite images but this is one of them, colour management is important in calibrating my monitors and printer to ensure the colours are correct both on the screen and in print.
