About the author – Michael Kleber
In the early 90s, I used to stand in front of the camera, as I was working as a professional skateboarder back then. When I started taking photos of other skateboarders, I discovered photography for myself and decided to switch roles. In 2008, I resigned from my job and found an assistant role at Infokus Studio in Ingolstadt, a studio that focused on automobile photography. At the same time, I was already working on different sports photography jobs for some magazines and agencies. My main focus on sports was mountain biking and of course skateboarding. In 2012, I decided to move to Neukölln, Berlin where I opened my own studio and continued with my selfemployment.
In my works, it is important to me to convey the sport itself and the lifestyle associated with it, in order to draw the viewer in and have him feel like he was part of the action. An athlete’s movement, his pace, and passion fascinate and inspire me. Photography allows me to capture him in his environment for a fraction of a second. This is exactly what motivates me to travel around the world to enjoy and capture a split second and bring this very photo home with me. And he skated happily everafter…
