Lorenz Andreas Fischer
I have been a freelance photographer for many years, specialising in landscape, nature, wildlife and outdoor photography. I use a minimalist style of imagery to create powerful images.
I organise exclusive photo trips and workshops and maintain a large online image library.
My work has won numerous awards, including Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Best European Nature Photographer. I also have a master’s degree in biology.
Which visual mediums do you use?
How did you get started in this?
Do you have a particular area of interest or genre you’re interested in?
I am most inspired by untouched wilderness. The original, raw and authentic fascinates me. But I also have a weakness for pure aesthetics in various aspects. That’s why I’m also inspired by historic city centers, general cityscapes or architecture. However, the majority of my shots show nature with as little human impact as possible.
Who and/or what inspires you most?
I use a Spyder kit of tools. I mainly use it to create precise print profiles for different papers. I estimate that I can print my pictures very accurately in terms of colour on a wide variety of papers for my exhibitions. Since I started using a self-calibrating monitor with a built-in sensor, I mainly use the Spyder calibratior for my laptops.
Colour accuracy is absolutely fundamental in image editing and in the further processing of images, for example, for your own prints or for creating print templates. My customers really appreciate the colour accuracy of my work.
What was the key factor that made you decide to use color management?I was driven to find a solution after becoming frustrated with poor-quality prints, both my own and those I had arranged to have printed. With Datacolor, I found a range of products with an excellent cost-benefit ratio.
